Cosmetic Dentistry FAQ
What is Cosmetic Dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is dental treatment that improves the beauty and health of one's smile. Nearly every cosmetic dental procedure has two elements: Aesthetics and function. A quality cosmetic dentist takes both of these elements into consideration in order to improve the appearance of your smile while also achieving and/or maintaining the health of your teeth and gums. Common cosmetic dental treatments include:
- Tooth colored fillings
- Teeth whitening
- Dental implants
- Contouring/tooth reshaping
- Smile makeovers
Why should I see a Cosmetic Dentist?
A cosmetic dentist is trained o to safely and effectively provide a variety of treatments that are designed to enhance your smile. While most general dentists can perform some cosmetic dentistry procedures, it is essential that you find a dentist who is skilled and has extensive training in cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Nishano Thomas has earned the title of Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) through her all-encompassing dental degree. If you have missing teeth, crooked teeth, discolored or severely stained teeth, or are an adult looking for an alternative to braces, a cosmetic dentist can help you achieve the beautiful smile that you have always wanted.
How Long Will Cosmetic Treatments Take?
Just as every smile is unique, every cosmetic dental procedure is also unique. The treatments that we provide at Memorial Park Dental are personalized to each patient. While many cosmetic treatments will vary from patient to patient, there are some treatments, such as teeth whitening, which can be completed in one office visit.
Will Insurance Cover Cosmetic Dental Procedures?
While insurance carriers vary, most do not cover cosmetic dental procedures because they are classified as "elective procedures" and are not necessary. Memorial Park Dental will work with you to provide several different treatment options, and we will let you know all of the treatment costs up-front so that you can choose the best option and best payment plan for your needs and your budget.
